The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) was published in 2022. It contained the findings of an investigation begun in 2015 and covered a wide range of institutions, including churches, clubs and local authorities.
St Benedict’s responded to the Inquiry and commissioned its own review in the Carlile Report, the findings of which have subsequently been adopted by a number of schools. In implementing these findings St Benedict’s separated its proprietorship from Ealing Abbey in 2012 and has continued to develop and maintain safeguarding processes and procedures that are recognised as sector leading. The Old Priorian Association (OPA) is organised under the auspices of the school.
The IICSA report included a recommendation relating to signposting support for victims’, recognising that the impact for those victims can be long lasting. The Old Priorians, supported by the school and Ealing Abbey, and in line with the Inquiry’s recommendations, wish to provide that signposting service.
